(In case you missed it)  We recently had the pleasure of working with Scarlett, a senior at Westerly High as she completed her senior project this year.

Scarlett took an interest right away in what we do, asking questions and applying what she's learned in school to help tackle some of the natural resource concerns we try to address in our work.

We also had the joy of seeing how Scarlett uses her artwork to engage in environmental storytelling. She has been working on a painting to include in her project, which speaks to her imaginative ability to use more than just words to represent our environment.

Two people are engaged in conversation outdoors, with one gesturing while holding a shovel. Green grass and a backdrop of buildings are visible.

As our time working with Scarlett has come to end, we wish her the best and thought it would fitting to leave you with some of her words on a recent field day she joined us on...

"The field visit was an amazing experience. It not only helped me learn more about the environment locally but it helped enhance my senior project giving more hands-on experience which was exactly what I was looking for. I got a better understanding on how our soils in the town are doing and what you can look for to tell that they are where they need to be, this is important to me as a gardener but also as a student who wants to pursue a career in the environmental fields. This visit also made my passion for helping the environment and understanding it stronger, fueling my dedication and commitment to obtain a higher education that I can later use to educate others about what is happening in the world to try and save it. Over all this was an amazing opportunity and very inspiring."
